How a Bridgeville Plumbing Company Became Home Base for a Pittsburgh Parrot Rescue

BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. – Sureway Heating Cooling and Plumbing, a Bridgeville-based residential service company, is drawing attention to its ongoing partnership with Heart & Soul Parrot Rescue, a local organization that has successfully rehomed more than 1,000 parrots throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Founded in 1998 by Sherry Johnson, Heart & Soul Parrot Rescue is a family-oriented organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming parrots in need. The rescue offers permanent adoption services and foster care programs, working to place each bird in a safe and appropriate home.

The organization is recognized for its thorough adoption and foster screening process. Prospective adopters and foster families are required to provide a safe home environment, maintain a smoke-free household and complete a training class focused on responsible bird care.

Training topics include:

safe foods for parrots,
how frequently bedding should be cleaned,
how to train and interact with birds, and
suitable toys and enrichment activities.

Every bird undergoes a medical exam prior to adoption, reflecting the rescue’s dedication to the health and well-being of each parrot in its care.

Heart & Soul Parrot Rescue serves communities across the Pittsburgh region and participates in local events including:

Tekko, and
