KEMSOR Studios Launches in Dehradun; First Hindi Feature Film to Go on Floors in December 2026

Uttarakhand-rooted studio targets May 2027 theatrical release, with plans for international co-productions and strategic collaborations

DEHRADUN, UTTARAKHAND / ACCESS Newswire / August 5, 2026 / Entrepreneur and actor Dev Raturi has announced the launch of KEMSOR Studios, a new film production venture based in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The studio’s first Hindi feature film is scheduled to go on floors in December 2026, with a theatrical release targeted for May 2027. The final release date will be announced at a later stage.

The inaugural film will tell a story deeply rooted in Uttarakhand while being produced in Hindi for a mainstream, pan-India audience. The project will showcase the state’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, traditions, people and distinctive way of life, with Uttarakhand forming an integral part of the narrative rather than serving merely as a filming location.

“Uttarakhand has extraordinary landscapes, culture, people and stories that deserve a much larger platform,” said Dev Raturi, Founder of KEMSOR Studios. “Our first film will be rooted here, but it is being created in Hindi because we want the story to connect with audiences across India. In the longer term, we want these stories to travel internationally as well.”

Local Roots, National Audience, Global Vision

KEMSOR Studios is being developed with ambitions extending beyond a single film. The company plans to build a slate of commercially viable, story-driven projects while exploring international co-productions, cross-border creative collaborations and overseas distribution opportunities.

Drawing on Raturi’s extensive professional experience in China, including his work as an actor across Chinese film and television productions, KEMSOR Studios intends to explore cross-border relationships with international producers, studios, distributors and creative professionals.

The studio plans to explore strategic collaborations with Indian and international production companies, co-production partners, distributors, brands and other stakeholders across the entertainment ecosystem.

“Our approach is collaborative,” Raturi said. “Cinema today brings together stories, talent, technology, capital, brands and audiences from different parts of the world. We want KEMSOR Studios to develop into a credible platform where these strengths can come together.”

Creating Opportunities in Uttarakhand

A key part of KEMSOR Studios’ vision is to create opportunities for local actors, artists, technicians and young creative professionals, enabling talent from Uttarakhand to work alongside experienced professionals from the wider Indian film industry.

The studio believes that increased film production in Uttarakhand can also generate economic opportunities beyond cinema, supporting sectors including hospitality, tourism, transportation, local vendors and other production-related services.

Raturi expressed his appreciation to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Government of Uttarakhand for initiatives and film-friendly policies aimed at encouraging filmmaking and strengthening the state’s creative ecosystem.

“The encouraging approach of the Uttarakhand Government is creating new possibilities for filmmakers while opening doors for local artists, technicians and businesses,” Raturi said. “With supportive policies, extraordinary locations and growing infrastructure, Uttarakhand has the potential to develop into an important filmmaking destination.”

KEMSOR Studios intends to contribute to this growing ecosystem by bringing more professional film activity to the state while providing a platform through which Uttarakhand’s locations, culture, talent and stories can reach wider audiences.

From Dehradun to the World

For Raturi, establishing KEMSOR Studios in Dehradun also represents a connection between his roots in Uttarakhand and his international professional journey.

The studio intends to combine that local foundation with a broader approach to filmmaking – developing stories from India with the potential to connect with audiences beyond geographical and cultural boundaries.

“Our roots are in Uttarakhand, our audience is India, and our vision is global,” Raturi said.

The first film will begin principal photography in December 2026, with its theatrical release currently targeted for May 2027. Details regarding the film’s title, director, cast, shooting locations and potential international collaborations will be announced separately as the project progresses.

The inaugural production will also establish the broader model KEMSOR Studios intends to pursue: stories with strong Indian roots, mainstream audience appeal, opportunities for local creative talent and the potential for international collaboration and distribution.

The project will formally mark the beginning of the KEMSOR Studios production slate, with further announcements expected in the coming months.
